And then one day you find, ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking
And racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death
Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to nought, or half a page of scribbled lines
Hangin' on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say

そしてある日、10年の歳月が過ぎ去ったことに気づくだろう。
誰も合図をしてくれなかった。出発の合図を聞き逃したのだ。
太陽を追いかけて、走る、走る。でも陽は沈もうとしている。
そして再びあなたの後ろまで駆け戻ってくるのだ。
太陽は変わっていないけれど、あなたは年をとった。
前より息が切れ、死に一日近づく。
1年がさらに短く感じられ、いつも時間が足りない。
無になった計画、半ページ分の殴り書きの線
静かなる絶望とともに待ちつづけるのがイギリス流
時は過ぎ去り、歌は終わった。もっと言うべきことがあると思ったのに。
